A Parish Council Meeting was held in the Methodist Church Hall on Tuesday, 25 June 2024 at 7.30pm.
Present: Mr. P. Whittaker (Chair), Mr. A. Ainsworth, Mr. D. Ascroft, Mrs. J. Bennett, Mr. S. Booth, Mrs. L. England, Mr. R. Porter, Mr. G. Scott
1. There no apologies for absence
2. There were no declarations of interest
3. Public Participation:
Matters brought to the attention of the parish council concerned buses not stopping at the Sawley Road bus stop and a suggestion that part of the repositioned bus shelter could be enclosed, a
report that there is dog fouling, cars being scratched and a faulty lamp standard on Downham Road.
4. There were no declarations of interest.
5. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved
6. Appointment of Parish Council Representatives:

7. Borough Councillor’s Report:
a) The Borough Councillor commented on the redundant bus shelter recently moved from Ribblesdale View to Sawley Road. Although the shelter was redundant requiring refurbishment had
agreed to it being resited. LCC to be requested to arrange to have it cleaned clean and possibly repainted.
b) A serious accident was narrowly avoided when a bus driver ignored the bollard at the bottom of Downham Road. The Local Bus Team to be requested to advise their drivers of the danger
caused by not keeping to the left of the bollard.
c) The lengthsman to be requested to clear the ginnels between the village roads.
8. Clerk’s Report:
The traffic mirror has been received and the owner of the garage has agreed to place it in a suitable position.
9. Items for Discussion:
A. Jubilee Bench
Members of the parish council were very disappointed with the stones selected for the Jubilee Bench which bear no resemblance to the ones envisaged for the project. They are unsuitable for
seats as they are either too large, too high and or uncomfortable for sitting This item to be discussed at the July meeting.
B. Traffic Mirror
The garage to be requested to place the traffic mirror facing towards Clitheroe
C. Darkwood Stones
It is anticipated that the stones to alleviate the exceptionally muddy conditions beside the kissing gates will be delivered in the coming weeks.
D. Beacon
It was resolved to make enquiries about suitable beacons for installation on the playing fields.
10. Representatives Reports:
The Parish Council Liaison Meeting was cancelled and no other meetings have been attended.
11. Planning Applications & Decisions:
3/2024/0436– Construction of single-storey extension adjoining the garage. 15 Crow Trees Brow. There were no observations.
12. Playing Field:
a) The weekly playground inspection reports were received.
b) A piece of the wet pour surface under the children’s swing has broken. Arrangements to made to have this fixed.
c) Permission was given to Chatburn School to allow alcohol to be served at the end of term Barbeque on 12 July.
