A Parish Council Meeting was held in the Methodist Church Hall on Tuesday, 18th February 2025 at 7.30pm.
Present: Mr. P. Whittaker (Chair), Mr. A. Ainsworth, Mr. D. Ascroft, Mr. S. Booth,
Mr. R. Porter and Mr. G. Scott.
The meeting was attended by 6 members of the public.
1. There were no apologies for absence.
2. There was a declaration of interest by Mr P Whittaker with regards to item 7I Chatburn Cricket Club
3. Public Participation:
Matters brought to the Council’s attention included:
Walking on Village grass – recommended a large stone was put by the flower tub
Downham Road Bridge – HGVs travelling over it
Footpath – Hare Hill Croft -A burst pipe.
Concerns over the extremely large for sale sign at Crow Trees.
Mirror still not been fit opposite petrol station
Request for a speed camera on Downham Road
Parking concerns on Darkwood Crescent

The Borough Councillor reported on:
Budgets
Council tax
Local government reorganisation
Pendle Avenue Development – has come to a halt, the property is up for sale and has planning for 2 properties

7. Items for Discussion:
A. Changing rooms.
It was agreed a sitting committee will be organised and the changing rooms will be formally adopted by Chatburn Parish Council. A legal agreement needs to be drawn up and any monies raised will go to the parish council. All councillors where in favour.
B. Playing Field & Playground Grass Cutting
There is a meeting next week with the headteacher.
An advert is required for the grass cutting, but is currently on hold until after the meeting,
C. Road Safety Mirror
Parish Councillors are going to put it up.
D. Co-option of 2 Members.
3-4 people have been approached, 1 attended the meeting.
E. Darkwood Footpath Stones/Bench & Beacon
2 trees had fallen but have now been removed.
Heidelberg meeting next week stones etc will be discussed then.
F.The grass in the village is getting walked on far too often.
Will be looked at by the councillors before the next meeting.
G. More grit bins are needed in the village.

A meeting is to be arranged for the Parish councillors and the Secretary of the Cricket Club

8. Representatives Reports:
1.Meeting for the structure of the councils, Ribble Valley fearful they may disappear. But it’s still a wait and see.
2. Community Grants – with regards to community support. Chatburn already has community projects which are subsidised for villagers.

10. Playing Field:
a) Some temporary repairs have been done by Playsound but they will return in order to do a permanent fix once the weather improves.
b) The monthly inspection report has been received.
c) The multi play area is going to be cleaned.
d) The tree overhanging the play area from the school will be discussed in the next meeting with the headteacher
